10 Things This plumber’s seen that’ll make you laugh, gasp or shake your head
1. You’ve been with Service Today the longest—do you remember your very first day? What was it like?
I was really nervous, I started as an adult apprentice. But the team was super supportive, and I settled in quickly. Although, funnily enough, on my very first day, I was caught sleeping in the factory ha ha!
2. What’s changed the most since you started with the company?
The culture has definitely improved. Over the years, I’ve seen Service Today grow into a major player in the Service industry right across Australia.
3. What’s one job or call-out you’ll never forget—funny, strange, or just plain unforgettable?
One of the strangest was a midnight call-out where the guy had no plumbing issue at all—he just wanted to have a beer with me! LOL.
4. If you could describe Service Today in three words, what would they be?
Consistent. Established. Motivating.
5. What keeps you motivated after all these years? (Besides the coffee!)
Every job is different, and I enjoy the challenge of solving problems and helping people get the best results.
6. What’s one plumbing myth you wish every customer knew wasn’t true?
That plumbing isn’t a skilled trade! We have a unique set of skills that not everyone can do. Trust me—the guy at Bunnings doesn’t always know what he’s talking about—ha ha.
7. Do you have a favourite part of your workday or type of job you enjoy most?
Working near the beach is always a bonus—can’t beat that! But I really enjoy diagnosing problems and figuring out what’s causing the issue, then solving it for the customer.
8. What advice would you give to someone just starting out in the trade?
Be patient, take your time to learn the basics, and keep building on your skill set. And never be afraid to ask questions.
9. If Service Today had a theme song that played every time you started the van, what would it be?
Definitely “9 to 5” by Dolly Parton. Classic.
10. And finally—what do you do to relax after a big day out on the tools?
Either hit the water on the Jet Ski or head to the gym. Anything in the sunshine keeps me happy and helps me unwind.
