The Sydney Central Business District is Australia’s main financial and economic hub, as well as a leading centre for economic activity in the Asia-Pacific region. The City has the largest population of workers, with almost 250,000 people working in the many skyscrapers and buildings, as well as almost 20,000 residents. Sydney City is a major centre for bustling nightlife and entertainment, with many pubs, bars, clubs and restaurants lining main streets and back alleyways. Several parks are interspersed between the skyscrapers and high-rise buildings, including Hyde Park, The Domain, Royal Botanic Gardens and Wynyard Park. After significant construction and upgrades to the transport system, George Street is the main thoroughfare with the Light Rail line, and Pitt Street is home to the retail heart of the city, Pitt Street Mall and Westfield Sydney. Macquarie Street houses the State Parliament House, the Supreme Court of New South Wales, and the State Library of New South Wales.
