Q&A with Brunswick Air Conditioning Specialist

Service Today GuyQ&A with Service Today Home Air Conditioning Expert

With over 20 years of experience working in the Brunswick area, Tony knows how to adjust the mercury so that you’re cosy in winter and cool in summer. This month, our customer service team unleashed the climate control challenge on one of our top heating/cooling specialists. We asked Tony for his top tips on getting the temperature just right in your home.

What’s The Safest Way To Heat A House?

There are lots of options when it comes to heating a house but by far the safest is a flued gas heating system; we call them Space Heaters. With gas heating, it’s important that they’re installed properly and flued so that the small amounts of carbon monoxide emitted are sent outside and out of harm’s way. A gas heater without the flue poses a potential threat to your family by not allowing for the by-products to escape your home. That’s why I always recommend installing Space Heaters for peace of mind and maximum effectiveness.

What’s The Most Efficient Way To Cool A House?

For cooling, I would always recommend either a suitably sized air conditioning unit or an evaporative cooling system. Both have their pros and cons and both are really efficient, especially if they’re installed correctly and optimised to suit your home. Air conditioning can be really efficient if you install separate units in each space. Compared to having one unit working hard to cool your whole house, separate units cooling smaller spaces is a much better way of controlling the cooling. Evaporative cooling is another excellent option for cooling your cottage. In some cases, it can be ultra-efficient as it uses much less power and CO2 than air conditioning units.

What Should I Do If My Heating/Cooling System Breaks Down?

If you have concerns about live electricity, switch off the power to your home. Otherwise, avoid using your heating/cooling system if you think there’s a problem because it could make it worse. Apart from that, leave the labour to the people who know what they’re doing.
